Nineteenth Century Restorations is owned and operated by Dan Riedemann, a 5th generation carpenter who learned specialty restoration methods and techniques working with his grandfather since childhood, and through multiple apprenticeships. Through his extensive experience in custom carpentry, historic masonry repairs, and all aspects of preservation, Dan learned to appreciate and reflect in his work the quality and style of 19th century techniques, but with modern amenities. He lives in to Lawrence where he focuses on historic preservation and custom home building.

Diane Arbus Photography
Remember Dr. Sidney Freedman, the psychiatrist on the TV show M*A*S*H. He was played by Allan Arbus. Did you know that he was married to the noted photograph Diane Arbus (1923–1971)(divorced 1969)?
Arbus found most of her subjects in New York, the city in which she was born. Her portraits of couples, children, carnival performers, nudists, middle-class families, transvestites, people on the street, zealots, eccentrics, and celebrities—stands as an allegory of postwar America and an exploration of the relationship between appearance and identity, illusion and belief, theater and reality. For Arbus, photography was a medium that tangled with the facts. Many of her subjects face the camera implicitly aware of their collaboration in the portrait-making process. In her photographs, the self-conscious encounter between photographer and subject becomes a central drama of the picture.
