Molasses Crinkles
-- not my favorite. Didn't crisp up or stay chewy

1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
2 egg
2½ cups flour
1½ teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt

Sugar Mix brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg. Mix in flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Heat oven to 375°F. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Dip tops in sugar. Place balls sugared sides up about 3 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake just until set, 10 to 12 minutes. Immediately remove from cookies sheets.
