Mince Tarts
 Typical English Christmas-time Treat

1 18-ounce jar prepared mincemeat (2 cups)
1 1/2 cups coarsely broken walnuts
4 large apples, cored and diced
1/cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup brandy
1 tablespoon lemon juice or cider vinegar
1 teaspoon cinnamon 
Prepared Pie Dough

1. In medium bowl, stir first 7 ingredients until well mixed; cover and refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to blend.

2. Prepare tart shells. (I normally use mini-muffin tins.  Cut a 2-inch round of rolled out pie dough and carefully place in muffin cup.)  Preheat oven to 425°F.  Fill  shells with undrained mincemeat mixture.  Top with a small star shape piece of pie dough.  Brush stars with buttermilk, milk or egg and sprinkle sugar on top.  Bake 20-25 minutes until golden.
