Hot Fudge Sauce

2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1 tablespoon butter
1/3 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Gently heat chocolate, butter, and water until chocolate and butter have melted.  Add corn syrup and sugar and boil mixture for 8 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat, add vanilla, and serve warm.  To reheat, place in a pan over simmering water.  For plain chocolate sauce that does not turn into fudge, boil mixture for just 5 minutes.  Make 1 cup.
