Caramel Layer Chocolate Bars

50 light caramels [14 oz.]
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 package chocolate cake mix
1 cup chocolate chips
3/4 cup margarine, melted
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped nuts

In  heavy  saucepan,  combine  caramels  and  1/3  c. evaporated milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until caramels  are  melted.  Set   aside.   Grease   9x13 baking dish. In large mixing bowl,  combine  cake  mix, butter, 1/3 c. milk and nuts.

By  hand,  stir  until  dough holds together. Press dough into  prepared  pan;  reserve remaining dough for topping.  Bake at 350º for 6 minutes.  Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust. Spread caramels over chips. Crumble reserved dough over caramel mixture.  Return to oven and bake for 15-18 minutes. Cool slightly;  refrigerate about 30 minutes to set caramel layer. Cut into 36 bars.
