All-American Brownies
1/2 pound butter (2 sticks)
1 1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup cocoa
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
Heat oven to 325°F. Butter a 9" x 13" baking pan. Melt the butter and let cool. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Beat eggs and vanilla until foamy. Gradually beat in sugar until blended and then beat in butter. Beat in flour mixture. Stir in walnuts. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of the pan, 30 to 35 minutes. Let cool before cutting into squares.
