Drex L. Shooman
Drex L. Shooman was the cartoon mascot appearing in print advertising for the Drexel Shoe Co. The president of the company, John C. Drexel, moved to Omaha in 1866 as a young boy. In addition to his business interests, he had an active public life, serving as Douglas County Coroner, Douglas County Clerk and Douglas County Sheriff and was elected in 1915 to serve as one of Omaha’s city commissioners.
