Sour Cream Orange Cake
1 1/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
3 eggs
1 teaspoon grated orange peel
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cup flour
2 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sour cream
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour two 9-inch cake pans
.
Beat sugar and butter until light. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well
after each. Beat in orange peel, lemon peel, and vanilla. Mix flour, baking
powder, soda, and salt. Mix dry ingredients into butter mixture, alternately
with sour cream, in two additions. Divide batter between pans. Bake about
25 minutes. Cool 20 minutes, loosen and turn out onto rack to cool completely
before frosting.
