Roy Bader Dies Of Heart Attack
Burlington Record -- Burlington, Colorado

Kit Carson County friends were shocked Sunday to learn of the sudden death of Roy Bader, 58, victim of a heart attack. Mr. Bader, prominent farmer and stock­man, suffered the first attack at his home 10 miles north­east of town, and died approximately two hours later at the Memorial Hospital in Burlington. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 12, at Methodist Church in Kanorado with the Rev. J. B. Schwartz officiating. Interment was at the Kanorado Cemetery with the Burlington IOOF lodge in charge ­of graveside services.

William Roy Bader was born Feb. 9, 1903, in Cumberland County near Toledo, Ill., and passed away Sunday, April 9, 1961, at the Kit Carson County Hospital in Burlington.

Roy, as he was known by his family and friends, moved with his parents to Fremont, Neb., where he lived for 11 years.  He was baptized and became a member of the Methodist Church at the age of nine and has been an active member in the church throughout [sic] his life; his membership at the time of his passing being in the Methodist Church of Kanorado.

In 1921, the family moved to a farm near Kanorado, where he lived until 1933 when he established a home at his present residence 10 miles north east of Burlington.  He was engaged in farming and cattle breeding, his specialty being polled Herefords.

On June 1, 1934, he was united in marriage to Avis Wagner of Kimball, Neb.  Thru the years Roy has been very active in community and civic affairs, having been on the board that brought the REA into the county. He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Burlington.

Preceding him in death are his parents and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Avis; five sisters, Minnie Stirewalt of Toledo, Ill., Grace Allen , of Fremont, Neb., Olive Birt of Burns, Wyo., Lola Kempton of  Columbia, Mo., and Josephine Sheldon of Kanorado; one brother, Golden Bader, of Valparisie, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

Out of town members of the family present were Mrs. Minnie Stirewalt of Toledo, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Stirewalt of Cham­paign, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Stirewalt of Urbana, Ill., Mrs. Garoll Keller of Decatur, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Birt of Burns, Wyo., Mrs. Al Birt, Jr., and son Raymond, of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. Dale Birt of Pine, Bluffs, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. William Behrends of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Birt of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Jack, Kempton of Columbia, Mo., Mrs. Zora Floor of Odgen, Utah, Mrs. ; Neva Hill of Kimball, Neb., Mrs. Ray Babcock of Littleton, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Allen and Ray Allen of Fremont, Neb., and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Little and Pamela and Michael Bader of Denver.
